Georgian Bay - Further Exploration

A series of new pastels exploring the outer islands.
The colour and texture of rocks, lichen and water, night skies, stars, meteor showers and northern lights.

Petrushka

A series of 20 watercolour and acrylic paintings depicting key scenes from the ballet Petrushka by Stravinsky.

A Canadian Artist


Alan is a painter and a printmaker, concentrating on pastels and charcoal on paper, limited edition books, with his own illustrations in wood engraving or stone lithography.

Much of his work has been influenced by summers spent on Georgian Bay at Bayfield Inlet, and his travels overseas.

Summer 2010 Exhibitions
Alan will have a solo exhibition at the Amherst Island Lodge.
Opening, July 3 from 2-5 pm, artist in attendance, exhibition continues to July 29th. This will be an exhibition of recent works on paper; larger pastels of Venice and Georgian Bay, charcoal sketches, lithographs of Venice and New York City, and a selection of wood engravings.

Alan will also have his work on display in Parry Sound, during the Festival of the Sound, as part of the "Impressions of Massasauga Provincial Park' annual exhibition, Opening, July 16, 4 pm, and along with Susan Gold, Sara Tyson, and Alicia Tyson, his work will be projected on stage during a live performance of Gene DiNovi's ' Scandinavian Suite #1', August 1, 2:30 pm.

Ex Libris exhibtion
A selection of Alan's hand-printed letterpress books including his newest book "The Golden Lilies" by PK Page have been selected for this curated group exhibition. MacLaren Arts Centre, Barrie Ontario. Reception September 17th, 2009, 7 - 9 pm. show continues through November 1, 2009

Book Launch
Alan will launch his new letterpress book, "The Golden Lilies" by PK Page, at the dedication of the Page Irwin Colloquium Room at Trent University Saturday May 2, 2009, 2pm. The book of eight new poems by Page, is designed and hand-printed by Alan at his Church Street Press, in Parry Sound, and includes 10 of his wood engravings.
