Arts & Letters Club, April 13

Several wood engravings from Alan's award winning hand printed book "Home Country" selected poems by Al Purdy, have been on the big screen across the country since the documentary film Al Purdy Was Here, premiered at TIFF in Toronto last Fall. It will be shown again at the Arts & Letters Club in Toronto on April 13, please check www.alpurdywashere.com for information about the film.

Aird Gallery 30th Anniversary exhibition

One of Alan’s pastels, “Over Painted Rocks #2” was selected to represent the OSA at the Aird Gallery’s 30th Anniversary exhibit. The exhibit celebrates the four founding organizations of the gallery; the Canadian Society of Painters in Water Colour, the Ontario Society of Artists, the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts and the Sculpture Society of Canada. The exhibit opens Thursday 12th and continues through to April 3.

In conjunction with the release of the limited edition book Viewfinder, 18 selected poems by Michael Crummey, there will be an exhibition describing the making of a letterpress book, featuring wood engravings, charcoals, sketches, models and proofs. 

 

 

A Visual Voyage: Navigating Georgian Bay

Art Gallery of Sudbury

Seven selected contemporary artists who live and work in communities around Georgian Bay, in Sudbury, and along the crescent from Midland to Manitoulin Island show how the landscape of rocks and water - icons that so affected members of the Group of Seven continue to inspire.

Four of Alan's large pastels are part of the exhibition celebrating Festival of the Seven, curated by Tom Smart. Selected artists include John Hartman, Ed Bartram, Anong Beam, Alan Stein, John Stopciata, Pierre Sabourin, Kelvin Smith, along with an extraordinary collection of the work of Franklin Carmichael.

Alan's pastel "Parry Sound High Trestle in Winter" was selected to be part of 'Wintertime' an exhibition by members of the Arts & Letters Club of Toronto. Exhibition continues February 1, 2014
